The Mon Repos Augmented Soundscape Project is a site-specific sound installation that integrates sounds from the biological and geological dimensions of the environment as well as human activity into a holistic soundscape. In such an ecosystem, sound can become the means of communication between different life forms and autonomous artificial agents that sound in the same space and (perhaps?) coordinate their sounds. What does it mean for other species to hear sounds that imitate (or augment in a new but abstract way) their own sounds? Could they find a connection? Could some kind of meaningful (to them) interaction with such artificial agents be created? Can a technology of this type develop a dialectic with other species, adapting its sound behavior? … And if so, would such a kind of communication be intelligible in some way by humans?
Various sound artists – in a dialectic relationship with the life and micro-sounds of the forest – augment, complement or intervene in some way to the soundscape of Mon Repos. The visitor can tour independently or as part of a pre-planned soundwalk.
